This week was our first week back at university and therefor our first official week of development at The Doghouse!

On Monday on the 21st of September we were lucky enough to have some studio time. Studio time is very limited at the moment because of coronavirus. So, when we do have any time in the studio, we must make sure that we take full advantage of it. For us, that means playtesting our game to see what stage it is at and if there are any major changes that need to be made and create a priority list from that.

Thanks to the playtesting we found out that the character controller had some issues. So, we decided to make the character controller the focus for this sprint. Now obviously artists do not work on the character controller so our environment artists (Elliot and Cameron) set themselves the task of creating a bunch of modular art assets that can used across all maps, and our character artists (Patty and Wren) worked on finalising the 4 characters concepts.

Our animator Cameron has quite a limited workload at the moment because we do not have the character models. The solution to this was to create a blank 3D model of one of the characters so that he can make some more animations for the base character controller.

The designers on the team (Joe and Harry) have been working on finalising the Game Design Document so that it is complete and ready for Monday the 28th. They have been having regular meetings with all departments to make sure that they can get as much information as possible in the GDD.

We have also started up all our social media pages and we are going to be posting 3 times a week on them. Monday is going to a mixture of animated gifs, level design, system design, any big programmer events. Wednesday are going to be art days, showing off any concepts and 3D models. Fridays are going to be Blog posts on our website, Vlog posts on our YouTube and Build releases on our itch.io. So stay tuned to all of our social media.
